I have been practicing as a psychologist for 20 years. In my practice, I specialized in psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, women’s issues, binge eating disorder, weight management, body image issues, self-acceptance, substance abuse/chemical dependency, relationship issues, and grief and loss. I now focus on all clinical supervision for the practice as well as making sure client needs are being met from a business perspective. The practice also specializes in providing Bariatric Evaluations, a prerequisite for Bariatric Surgery. My goal is to support therapists in the practice as they assist clients in overcoming barriers to their health and well-being, so that clients can achieve relief from their symptoms and live healthy and balanced lives.

THERAPIST
I have a passion for working with adolescents and their parents or guardians, young adults, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and people who have a history of trauma. Finding an individual identity, personal interests, and focusing on strengths and values are integral parts of most sessions. I help clients identify and use their strengths to achieve their own goals. My personal philosophy is to meet clients where they are in life, help them get the tools to find their way to wellness, and create a life they are excited to live.
I have specialized education in trauma, specifically with women and children. I also have specialized training in suicide prevention. I work in the areas of overall wellness, body positivity, health at every size, self acceptance, empowerment around health choices, and disordered eating behaviors. I think outside the box and use an integrated approach to therapy based in cognitive behavioral theory. I use art, music, writing, and other forms of expression to work through issues and help clients find healing.

My career experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. I have always been exposed to a variety of populations. Aside from my array of experience with different age groups as well as diagnoses, I have an interest in working with children and adults who are dealing with chronic illness, whether they are newly diagnosed or were diagnosed years ago. I have a specific passion for exploring the mind-gut connection and how gastrointestinal problems are affected by mental health. Overall, my approach to therapy can be best explained as holistic, with an emphasis on meeting clients where they are presenting. The part of my role as a therapist I have the greatest passion for is when an identified weakness provides an opportunity for clients to initiate change. Often times, clients may have considered coming to therapy for a while prior to making an appointment. In therapy, as with many situations in life, the first step is always the hardest to take. I am happy to provide a safe and comfortable space for clients to take their first steps.

Beginning my career as a firefighter, paramedic, and EMS instructor, I have been privileged to care for individuals of all ages from all walks of life over the past two decades. I've witnessed patients, peers, and students silently grapple with mental health challenges. The communities I've lived in and served have afforded me many lessons and experiences, and I'm driven to apply that knowledge to mental health care. My specialty is in addressing trauma, especially in first responders, but also the wider community. I am drawn to assisting those struggling with addiction, depression, anxiety, and other challenges rooted in their life experiences. My therapeutic approach melds active listening, conflict resolution, mindfulness, and focused breathing, refined from years of engaging with people in their own communities.
